Who is a good candidate?

Generally, the VI Peel is a safe and effective treatment for most skin types. However, there are a few conditions that disqualify you from receiving the VI Peel. Please note that the below list is not extensive, and we always recommend you consult with one of our aesthetic experts before starting this treatment.

Those who are pregnant or who are breastfeeding
Those who have an aspirin, hydroquinone, or phenol allergy
Those who have used oral isotretinoin (Accutane) within the past 6 months
Those who are undergoing chemotherapy and or radiation therapy within 6 months 
Those with a history of an autoimmune (i.e. Lupus) or liver disease/disorder, as well as, any condition that may weaken their immune system
Please tell your provider if you have a history of herpes simplex so pretreatment medication can be given.

How is the treatment performed?

The treatment starts with VI Peel’s proprietary gentle cleanser. After the cleanse, the peel will be applied to your skin—each sweep around the face with the peel is called a ‘pass’. The treatment will include 6-8 passes and last around 15-20 minutes.

The treatment solution must stay on for four hours. During this time do not wash your face or apply makeup. Your skin may appear yellow, red, or tan, and moderate redness and/or swelling may be present.

Does VI Peel burn?

The VI Peel does not burn! You may experience slight warmness and tingling in the beginning, but this should quickly subside. Besides the warmness and tingling, VI Peel treatments are virtually painless.

What to expect after the treatment?

The VI Peel is a medium-depth peel which means you will experience a good amount of sheet peeling. Peeling will typically start by day two with the brunt of the shedding taking place on days three – six. It is very important that you do not pick or tug on the skin!—this can cause scarring, irritation, redness, and hyperpigmentation.

Make sure to be very gentle when washing and drying your face, and to wear sunscreen! We will supply you with an aftercare kit that supplies a week’s worth of gentle cleanser, post-treatment balm, SPF, and post-treatment towelettes.

After the peeling has stopped you will find your skin to be more even-toned, have less hyperpigmentation, and improve dark spots/scarring.

Question 6

How many times a year can you have a VI Peel?

If a series is recommended, the VI Peel is suitable to receive every 4-6 weeks. Our team will create a unique skincare plan for your own skincare needs. You can also have the VI Peels quarterly/seasonally and receive 4 peels a year for the maintenance of healthy skin.
