• In most cases, patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a neurological disease should not use Botox.

Generally, after the initial consultation, the procedure only takes approximately 15 minutes. You can come on your lunch break and no one would know you had it done!

During the procedure, a small needle is used to inject Botox® into specific muscles with only minor discomfort. Botox® Cosmetic works by temporarily weakening the muscles that cause facial expressions. Once the treated muscles are weakened, the pull of the muscle relaxes which will result in an overall smoother complexion.

Complications are rare but some of the side effects of Botox® Cosmetic injections include muscle weakness near where the medicine was injected, bruising, pain, redness, or swelling at the injection site, headache, muscle stiffness, neck or back pain, flu symptoms, allergic reactions, rash, and itching.

Although everyone handles pain differently, most patients say the injections feel like a little pinch.

For additional comfort, we offer topical numbing 15 minutes before the procedure.

• It generally takes 7 to 14 days to take full effect.

• Avoid rubbing the injection site for 24 hours so you don’t spread the Botox to another area.

• The effects from Botox will last 3 to 6 months. As muscle action slowly returns, the lines and wrinkles begin to reappear and need to be treated again. The lines and wrinkles often appear less severe with time because the muscles are shrinking.

While long-term Botox use can help prevent wrinkles, if you do not continue using Botox, you should not experience any adverse effects. If you miss a touch-up or decide it is not for you, that is totally fine. Other than your face going back to its natural state, there should not be any other issues.
